Academics: Reading: We have completed Unit 6. Students will take the unit 6 reading assessment this week. 95 Core Phonics: Students will practice dividing words into syllables and learn a little more about open and closed syllables. Grammar: We have learned all grammar skills and are working on reviewing. Writing: We are working on writing paragraphs. Our focus is 5 sentences: an opening sentence, 3 details, and a closing sentence. Students have done so well! We will continue to respond to stories and work on writing paragraphs. Math: We finished up Unit 5 last week and are starting Unit 6 this week. This unit is unique. It is a culminating capstone unit, meaning we will be reviewing and mastering all skills that students have learned and not mastered yet. Sci/SS: Students will research different animal groups this week. Some of them include; fish, insects, reptiles, amphibians, and birds.

They will learn how to read -or and -ar words as well as -ir, -ur and -er. Grammar: We have learned all grammar skills and are working on reviewing. Writing: We are working on writing paragraphs. Our focus is 5 sentences: an opening sentence, 3 details, and a closing sentence. Students have done so well! We will continue to respond to stories and work on writing paragraphs. Sci/SS: We are entering our last unit of the school year, Living Things. We will start the week off reviewing living and non-living things. We will finish it off learning the needs of plants. iReady For Families Report (Grades K-8) i-Ready has added a new feature this year that allows schools to share students’ Diagnostic results digitally by providing access to the For Families report directly on students’ i-Ready dashboard. Families will have digital access to the For Families report after logging in to their student’s i-Ready dashboard and entering our district report code: 1HX9DP on the top right-hand corner of the For Families tab. This code is applicable to all students throughout the district and is offered to families so they can access student results before deciding whether or not to share them directly with their children. We can't wait to learn about the traditions your families celebrate! 95 Core Phonics: We are working hard learning about vowel teams. 2 - 3 letters that work as a team to make a vowel sound. This week our focus will be on the vowel teams ea and ow. We will be learning both the short and long sounds of these vowel teams. Grammar: We have learned all grammar skills and are working on reviewing. Writing: Last week we learned about writing paragraphs. Our focus is 5 sentences: an opening sentence, 3 details, and a closing sentence. Students have done so well! We will continue to respond to stories and work on writing paragraphs. Math: We are completing Unit 5 and will be taking the Unit 5 test this week. Be sure to review: missing addends, coins, graphs, elapsed time, and adding 2 digit numbers. Grammar: We will review everything we have learned about sentences. Writing: We finished our How To Writings. They were amazing! This week, we will learn how to write a letter. Math: We are continuing with unit 5. We will be looking for patterns in numbers and work on elapsed time. Sci/SS: We began our Economics and Personal Finance unit. We have learned about wants/needs and goods and services. This week students will focus on producers and consumers. Important Items:

Grammar: Our grammar focus this week is learning about imperative sentences (giving commands). Writing: We will continue and finish up our How To Writings. Math: We are continuing with unit 5. We will be working on word problems with missing addends. Ex: 4 + ____ = 11 Sci/SS: We will be starting a large unit centered around Economics and Personal Finance. We will start off learning about wants and needs and goods services. We will also be discussing why we spend money, what do we spend it on, how do we earn it, etc. We can't wait to start this unit!
